About
The SLOWD project is based on the simulation of sloshing phenomena due to the fluid structure interaction of the fuel inside the tanks attached to the aircaft wings and the aircraft movements. We have a moving structure as the wing and the tank and a sloshing fluid. This problem will be studied from a computational point of view but also from an experimental point of view. Consequently the PhD student must be someone who want to grow both branches, computational and experimental at the same time.
The computational part will be performed using the SPH formulation of the fluid, that will be coupled to an structural code. The code used will be the AQUA code:

The experimental part will be basically performed in Bristol, over there the small scale experiments will be performed in the Bristol university and the real scale ones will be performed in the Airbus UK facilities. Consequently the Phd student will spend some months of his PhD in Bristol UK.
