About the Role
The College of Science and Engineering is seeking a Research Associate in Hydrogeology to contribute to a One Basin Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) project on water banking for enhanced drought resilience in Loxton, South Australia. The position involves contributing to research design, delivery and communication, with a focus on identifying and assessing high-potential water banking sites across the Murray-Darling Basin.
Key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the planning, coordination and execution of project activities to meet research milestones.
- Undertaking literature reviews, producing data, maps, reports and publications, and presenting findings to diverse audiences.
- Collaborating with industry partners and stakeholders to support project goals and engagement.
About You
You are a motivated researcher with a strong foundation in hydrogeology and a passion for applied, industry-engaged science. With a track record in research and publication, you have excellent knowledge and technical skills in spatial data analysis, mapping and Geographical Information Systems.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- A PhD (or near completion) in hydrogeology or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Experience in water recourse management within the Australian context , including knowledge of water quality and quantity management.
- Experience with Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) or water banking design (desired)
- Skills in numerical modelling or programming (e.g., Python, PHREEQC, MODFLOW) (desired)
- Experience in both qualitative and quantitative hydrogeological methods (desired)
