Study Visit in Vienna: Enhancing Career Development Services Beyond Academia

Hub

On June 25–26, 2025, representatives of the Scientific Entrepreneurship Hub in Bulgaria (SciEntBG Hub) – Prof. Dr. Dmytro Zherlitsyn and Mr. Andrian Stoykov – took part in a study visit in Vienna, Austria. The LBG Career Center (Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft) hosted the event in cooperation with the University of Vienna Postdoc Career Development team, within the framework of the ERA TALENT project.

The visit focused on “Researchers’ Careers Beyond Academia – How to Support Alternative Career Paths” and brought together stakeholders and EURAXESS representatives from Austria, Spain, Slovakia, Switzerland, and Greece. Participants exchanged best practices in career counselling, expert internship programs, mentoring schemes, and training for transferable skills. The Bulgarian delegation shared ongoing activities of the SciEntBG Hub, including the pilot implementation of the ReBeCA mentoring model.

The event provided a valuable opportunity to:

  • exchange practical tools and methodologies in support of non-academic career transitions;
  • establish direct collaboration with the LBG Career Center team;
  • explore future participation of Bulgarian researchers in EU-wide programs.

This study visit significantly contributed to strengthening the SciEntBG Hub's capacity to support researchers in their professional development. The experience and contacts gained will be applied in future activities related to career services, mobility, and mentoring initiatives under EURAXESS Bulgaria.
