From 28 to 30 October 2026, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, National Coordinator of EURAXESS Bulgaria, proudly hosted the EURAXESS Biennial Conference 2026 in Sofia.

Under the theme “Evolving EURAXESS in a Changing World”, the Conference brought together the EURAXESS community, representing a network spanning 43 countries, alongside European institutions and international partners.

The event was officially opened by the Rector of Sofia University, Prof. Eliza Stefanova, Deputy Minister Prof. Senya Terzieva-Zhelyazkova, and Slaven Mišljenčević from the European Commission.

A special highlight was the participation of European Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva, who engaged in a valuable dialogue with EURAXESS representatives about the future of research careers and talent in Europe.

Over three days, participants exchanged ideas, shared experiences and explored the future development of EURAXESS through plenary discussions and interactive workshops.

Hosting the Conference was an important recognition of Sofia University's longstanding contribution to EURAXESS, including its leading European role in supporting refugee and at-risk researchers through Science4Refugees.

Our heartfelt thanks go to all participants, speakers, moderators, workshop organisers, partners and colleagues!

This Conference was truly a collective achievement. Every contribution, discussion, shared experience and new connection helped make it a success.

We are immensely grateful for your enthusiasm, dedication and wonderful EURAXESS spirit.

Thank you all for making these three days in Sofia so memorable!
