On 23 May 2025, the Scientific Entrepreneurship Hub in Bulgaria (SciEntBG) was presented as a key national initiative during the XIII International Scientific Conference “New Economy 2025 – For the Innovative Economy in Times of Transformation”, hosted by the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Sofia.
Prof. Dr.Sc. Dmytro Zherlitsyn and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kostadin Kolarov delivered a joint presentation titled “Technology Transfer and Innovation Dynamics Through Clustering Analysis of European Union Countries.” The presentation emphasized the need for tailored policy responses that balance high-tech advancement with inclusive development strategies, particularly in less research-intensive economies. A central focus of the presentation was the mission of the SciEntBG Hub, established within UNWE and supported by the EURAXESS ERA Talent platform. The Hub aims to bridge the gap between academic research and market application through:
- Training and webinars focused on digital innovation, research valorization, and startup development
- Mentoring programmers
- Support for early-stage and refugee researchers seeking to develop innovation capacities
- Strengthening academia-industry collaboration in alignment with national and EU priorities
By addressing the systemic barriers faced by researchers and SMEs in countries like Bulgaria, SciEntBG actively contributes to building an inclusive, knowledge-based innovation ecosystem.
Participation in the “New Economy 2025” conference reinforced the Hub’s commitment to shaping science-based entrepreneurship in Southeast Europe and expanding cooperation within the scientific communities.
