
The Network for International Policies and Cooperation in Education and Training (NORRAG) has announced the launch of its Academic Freedom Fellows Initiative. The initiative aims to support critical research, facilitate regional and global dialogue, and strengthen the defense of academic freedom through collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The inaugural online event will include a roundtable discussion with directors from three regional coalitions: the Africa Coalition for Academic Freedom (ACAF), the Coalition for Academic Freedom in the Americas (CAFA), and the Southeast Asia Coalition for Academic Freedom (SEACAF). The discussion will focus on the challenges and opportunities in advancing academic freedom across the Global South.

Side Event at the 59th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council
The Special Rapporteur on the right to education and Scholars at Risk are organizing a side event titled “Regional Approaches to Implementing the Right to Academic Freedom.” The event will take place on June 25, 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00 CEST at the Palais des Nations in Geneva and will also be available online. The event includes panel remarks and a Q&A session.
Registration is required for both in-person and virtual attendance.
