IIE has rapidly deployed $200,000 in emergency grants to international students affected by hurricanes, flooding, and conflict across East Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Middle East. These funds help students cover essential needs such as tuition, housing, and food when crises disrupt their families’ livelihoods.

As conflict intensifies across Sudan, IIE’s Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) has seen a surge in applications from scholars seeking safety. One example is Dr. Khalid Mohammedsalih, whose research was interrupted by the outbreak of violence. Through IIE-SRF, displaced scholars can continue their work in secure academic environments and contribute to new communities.
