OFFER DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
Applicants are invited to apply for two Early Stage Researcher (ESR) positions as part of the project “Innovative tools for Cyber-Physical Energy Systems (InnoCyPES)” which is funded by the European Union under the Marie Skoldowska Curie Innovative Training Networks (EU-MSCA-ITN) programme. InnoCyPES is an ambitious consortium partnering 11 universities and 9 industry partners across Europe that explores the digitalization challenges of the power system in terms of cyber security, accommodation of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and cyber-physical systems integration.
Early Stage Researchers employed within the project will undertake individual research projects leading to a PhD degree.
The first post will be on data-driven stability assessment of power system. The candidate will explore machine-learning and artificial intelligence algorithms to evaluate the stability and reliability of the power system combining traditional mathematical methods with data-driven approaches.
The second post will focus on privacy-preserved power system estimation for improved network observability. The postholder will apply and enhance load patterns extraction algorithms and power system state estimation methods on electrical network data, with a special focus on preserving the privacy and anonymity of the consumers information in light of the recent privacy regulations.
Both ESRs will undertake research internships with the consortium partners to work with multi-university and multi-disciplinary teams to allow them for high-quality research and a complete set of transferable skills. In addition, the ESRs will be required to submit publications to refereed journals as part of the desirable requirement for PhD qualification. ESRs are expected to supervise undergraduate postholders in laboratory as well as in final year individual project.
