RESEARCHER PROFILEEstablished Researcher (R3)
APPLICATION DEADLINE31/07/2019 23:59 - Europe/Brussels
LOCATIONBrazil › São Paulo
TYPE OF CONTRACTTo be defined
In this project to be developed by a post-doctoral researcher, we propose to study the generation of exosomes by Trypanosoma cruzi extracellular amastigotes (EA) and their role on the parasite’s infectivity. We will examine the effects of isolated exosomes on signaling pathways triggered by EA which may contribute to cell colonization. Experiments using in vivo imaging techniques will be used to identify additional features of host-parasite interactions.
Among the main objectives to be pursued are: 1. Generate and characterize by proteomic analyses exosomes from EAs of different infectivities. 2. Analyze in vitro and in vivo activities on parasite invasion and growth. The work is part of a Thematic Project.
Desired skills and experience
Ideally, the post-doctoral fellow should have experience in working with Trypanosoma cruzi in areas related to the Project. Skills in molecular and cell biology / biochemistry and immunochemistry techniques and experience in phenotypic screening using in vivo model systems will help in advancing the project.
The candidates for the fellowship should send the following documents by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org:
- Letter indicating the reason of interest in the fellowship and a brief description of previous experience;
- Updated CV;
- Names and e-mails of researchers (at least two) who may provide references.
The selected candidate will receive a post-doctoral fellowship funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the ammount of R$ 7,373.10 / month and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
